The island of Kauai was made to be a resort destination.  Mysterious mountains, spectacular beaches, hidden waterfalls, wonderful climate, and postcard perfect sunsets, were all here from the beginning.  Add to that, several world class golf courses, restaurants, and hundreds of vacation activities like surfing, horesback riding, hiking and exploring, kayaking, beach combing, helicopter and sailboat tours and you understand why dozens of great resorts have been built here.

On the north shore of Kauai is Princeville where the Princeville Hotel is soon to open as a St. Regis Resort in the summer of 2009.  This spectacular hotel is elegant in its beauty and it takes full advantage of un-paralleled views of Hanalei Bay and the mountains.

Also within Princeville, you’ll find Hanalei Bay Resort.  With over 22 acres of tropical gardens this low-rise resort feature a variety of 1, 2, and 3 bedroom condos owned and managed by individual owners.  Rent directly through the owner or through the front desk.

Pali Ke Kua in Princeville is set on the edge of a bluff overlooking the Blue Pacific Ocean.  It offers stunning views of Bali Hai from it’s vacation rental condos.   A swimming pool, onsite restaurant and clubhouse are also available to guests.  Close by is Alii Kai resort.  Set atop a bluff, you’ll enjoy views of Kauai’s north shore from almost every room.

Sealodge condos are a true find.  These condos take full advantage of 180 degree views of Kauai’s north shore from Bali Hai on the west to the Kilauea Lighthouse to the west; you’ll feel you’re living in a postcard.

Kauai’s east shore also has several resorts that you’ll need to see.  Waipouli Beach Resort in Kapaa; and Kauai Beach Resort are two of my favorites.  These resorts have spectacular water features like pools, water slides, and waterfalls to play in.  Restaurants, spas and other resort features make these wonderful vacation destinations.

On the south shore of Kauai is the Poipu area.  Poipu is probably the most developed tourist area on the island.  Attracted by Poipu Beach State Park other famous beaches and golf courses in the area, The Grand Hyatt is located here.  So also is Poipu Kai Resort.
